New York City's Underground Dance Scene Finds a Hamptons Summer Home

Southampton, NY (PRWEB) May 30, 2008 -- Go to most beach communities on the East Coast of the United States and you will find, that in the interest of commercial success, popular radio songs, mostly of the Hip Hop and R and B variety, dominate the club music scene. If you are like many of us, a little older and experienced, you may be frustrated in your search to dance to more cutting edge beats. Starting Saturday, May 31st, Mike Rura and Isaac Rashad will be serving up a series of parties designed for the more sophisticated, and over 21, club patron.

Mike first made his mark on the East End with last March's Burning Beach Ball at the Montauk Yacht Club. The two day event surprised everyone with over 400 attendees from across the United States and Canada during what was still, technically, winter on Long Island. While still planning to repeat the event next year, with the addition of a family friendly (and solar powered) daytime music tent, he has opted to connect with East End residents and vacationers by bringing the best of the New York, National and International underground DJ scene to the Hamptons. As one of the key event organizers for Kostume Kult, one of New York's participatory culture advocacy groups, president of the International DJ Guild and a DJ himself, Mike has long sought to promote the less mainstream dance music genres.

"I think that you need to have a little disco background in order to appreciate Minimal Techno, Electro, House, Breaks and the other formats that make up today's electronic dance music." quipped Mike in a recent interview. "Once you learn to let the music serve as a soundtrack for your evening rather than the focus of your listening, something wonderful happens: You focus on your friends and the whole experience of the night."

Isaac, an artist manager and promoter from New York City, helped locate a number of venues to accommodate this largely untapped market of sophisticated dance music fans. "We began to notice that the party scene in the city was made up of a lot of creative professionals that were not ready to retire their dancing shoes just because they were now crossing into the 'thirty something' bracket," says Isaac. "It's a really large group of people that want to go out, want to have fun, and want to surround themselves with quality people. Southampton was a natural choice for us."

The parties, with the moniker, "Meta4", will commence with a grand opening on May 31st at 'The Garage', a large state-of-the-art private venue located off Montauk Highway in Southampton. Initially they will be held on a bi-weekly basis but may become a weekly event as summer progresses. Four NYC DJs will provide some of the hottest beats and remixes that the Hamptons have experienced in some time. These events will feature an all night open bar, VIP loft, amazing lighting and a thundering sound system. Tickets available online at www.meta4longisland.com.

A pre-party is being provided by Supreme Trading, 213 North 8th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tickets to these events will be available at the same location.
